Stamp Duty Holiday Ends At Christmas - But Barratt Vows To Extend It Into 2010
THE Chancellor today confirmed that the Stamp Duty holiday on homes worth up to GBP175,000 will end on 31st December. But Barratt is extending its offer into 2010 to scrap the tax on all its homes up to GBP250,000.

LEICESTERSHIRE, ENGLAND, December 20, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- THE Chancellor confirmed that the Stamp Duty holiday on homes worth up to GBP175,000 will end on 31st December. But Barratt is extending its offer into 2010 to scrap the tax on all its homes for sale up to GBP250,000.

This effectively means that the majority of Barratt homes nationwide will continue to be exempt from Stamp Duty because Barratt could pay it on their buyers' behalf.

"When people want to move home, Stamp Duty is an additional cost which can sometimes make the difference between being able to afford it or not," said Jeremy Hipkiss, Head of Sales and Marketing at Barratt.

"So it's not good news for anyone looking to buy in 2010 that the Government is ending the exemption period on properties worth up to GBP175,000."

"If you decide to buy a new home in the New Year, however, you could still effectively pay no Stamp Duty on a home worth up to GBP250,000. This is a great opportunity for anyone thinking of moving to save themselves thousands of pounds simply by buying from Barratt."

For added piece of mind, buyers can also benefit from Barratt's new five year guarantee on fixtures and fittings in their new home at the time of purchase.

Items covered at no extra cost to the buyer will include appliances such as washing machines and refrigerators, kitchen units, wardrobes, the central heating system, fires, doors, windows, drainage, the hot and cold plumbing system and even the driveway.
