The newest multi-million dollar addition to the NYC skyline is 1st to contain ThermConX...
The new $20 million dollar Strand Hotel, designed by world renowned architect Gene Kaufman and nestled in the heart of Manhattan's desirable midtown fashion district is the first hotel to contain Archtechnik's new ThermConX Tang thermal break connections.
LOUGHBOROUGH, UK, August 09, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Strand, New York's newest multi-million dollar, 20 floor, 178 room hotel incorporates over 50 of the new ThermCon Tang thermal break connections.
The connections were mounted to a structural interior column, and then projected out through thick metal composite panels in order to provide support for the hotels extensive laundry and kitchen exhaust ducts.
The Tang attachment (which can be manufactured to suit customer's individual requirements) allows numerous items, from signage & ducting to brise soleil & canopy systems, to be secured back to the structure of the building without creating a cold bridge.
The need to significantly reduce the amount of energy that we are consuming is at an all time high. Buildings are the main cause of wasted energy, with cold bridging accounting for up to 30% of a buildings' total heat loss.
As well as this, and perhaps more significantly, cold bridging causes cold spots which in turn lead to the formation of mould. The presence of mould within buildings causes serious and sometimes irreversible structural damage, as well as serious health concerns ranging from asthma to bronchitis and even cancer.
