Celebrated architect receives industry's highest honour, reveals Thinkscape Team3 under an expanded Thinkscape Group
Responsible for some of Kuala Lumpur's most recognisable landmarks, Datuk Dr Baharuddin Kassim was conferred a Gold Medal Award from the Malaysian Institute of Architects. Meanwhile, he announced the forming of Team3 under the Thinkscape Group

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, May 14, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Thinkscape Team3 chairman Datuk Ar. Dr Hj Baharuddin Abu Kassim, was conferred PAM Gold Medal Award 2008 at a special ceremony at one of his very own designs - the iconic National Mosque in the capital city.

The Gold Medal Award is the highest honour from the Malaysian Institute of Architects (Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia), and Baharuddin is only the fifth recipient of the prestigious award.

Baharuddin, known for progressive designs inspired by local heritage, was recognised for his contribution to the profession, the society, and outstanding achievements for almost five decades.

At the same event, Baharuddin announced the merging of his private practice into the Thinkscape Group - and the official formation of Thinkscape Team3. He introduced this as his latest effort to shift the practice to an innovative new working model - by leveraging on cross-disciplinary partnership of ideas to optimise impact and effectiveness.

"Architects of the future should be encouraged to... form groups of multi-level practices. For many years, architects were regarded as the leaders of the building industry. Why don't we unite to restore the integrity and stature that this profession so rightly deserves... It is for this exact reason that I have offered my own small contribution in the form of Thinkscape Team 3, which would bring architecture into the 21st century by merging cutting-edge IT with traditional architectural practices," said Baharuddin.
