Architectural Millwork Company Receives WBENC Certification as a Woman-Owned Business Enterprise
Woodworking Specifics Receives Special Designation!

KENNESAW, GA, February 27, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Woodworking Specifics, Inc., a full-service architectural millwork and custom cabinet shop specializing in commercial, residential and one-of-a-kind, hand-made furniture, announced today it has received the national certification from The Woman's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

The WBENC certification for women-owned business is the most recognizable and sought after certification of its kind. WBENC's national standard of certification consists of a meticulous process including an in-depth review of the business, application process, detailed notarized affidavit, a site visit and final determination by the Certification Committee.

Woodworking Specifics, who is also a member of the Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) and the U.S. Green Building Council, is believed to be the only 100% woman-founded and woman-owned millwork firm in Georgia making this designation even more extraordinary. It is true that women business owners are one of the fastest growing segments in business, but architectural woodworking lags behind the vast majority of all business segments when it comes to minority diversification.

"We are proud to officially be certified as a Women's Business Enterprise. I started Woodworking Specifics out of sheer frustration after spending years in the industry designing and specifying custom millwork as the owner of a company called Marketing Specifics and continually being disappointed with the millwork fabrication and installation services I received. By receiving the WBENC designation, we look forward to the opportunities the certification will bring," said Joan Barnes, Founder and President of Woodworking Specifics.

By including women-owned business among their vendors, corporations and government agencies demonstrate their commitment to fostering diversity. Many of the Fortune 500 companies have women's business development programs, including 80 of the top 100.

Woodworking Specifics is licensed in the state of Georgia and is bondable for $1 Million projects and up. The company has designed and fabricated commercial projects throughout the United States including: restaurant bars, sales center displays, retail store displays, reception desks, conference tables, museum displays, custom kitchen cabinetry, islands, entertainment centers, home theaters, custom built-ins, mudrooms, home offices, wine cellars and one-of-a-kind furniture pieces.
